Graphium sarpedon
This is the Common Bluebottle that i found near the river in the forest. The wingspan of this butterfly is about 85 mm. This one is a female butterfly because it has larger blue patches.
This butterfly has a macular band which runs from the apex of the forewing to the inner margin of the hindwing on both the upper and underside. This band varies from pale green through various hues of bluish-green to deep blue. The hindwing has a series of blue submarginal spots on the upperside, and additional red spotting on the underside of the hindwing. There is a red spot near the base of the hindwing on the underside as well.
- Spotted near the river in the forest. Usually it can be found in nature reserves and urban parks.
- This butterfly is from the Papilionidae family. Thanks to Dilan Chathuranga for the ID.
