African Lion

Panthera leo

Description:

This lion seemed to enjoy watching me as much as I did him. Although I'm sure he was wondering if I would taste good, where as I was just admiring him! This is a South African lion which is regarded as the same ones you would find in Kenya (which I also have a spotting for)

Notes:

Lions spend much of their time resting and are inactive for about 20 hours per day. Although lions can be active at any time, their activity generally peaks after dusk with a period of socializing, grooming, and defecating. Intermittent bursts of activity follow through the night hours until dawn, when hunting most often takes place. They spend an average of two hours a day walking and 50 minutes eating

Thanks Pradeep. I spotted him walking through the bush, then he stopped to check out what I was doing. You can almost feel what I felt since he is looking right down the lens with those piercing eyes!
