Description:

Deciduous shrub 1–5 m high, though sometimes it can scramble higher into the crowns of taller trees. Its stems are covered with small, sharp, hooked prickles, which aid it in climbing. Pinnate leaves , with 5-7 leaflets. The flowers vary between a deep pink and white although they are usually pale pink. They are up to 6 cm in diameter with five petals. The fruit is an oval 1.5–2 cm red-orange hip.The fruit is high in vitamin C. The dog rose blooms from May to July and gives fruits at the end of summer and beginning of autumn.
