Yes, I think it is the Common Checkered Skipper, Pyrgus communis. Checkered Skipper is the common name of Pyrgus sp. Usually they are not as easy to ID as other skipper, depending on the location. New York is quite in the north, so the southern ones are ruled out. Please, verify nevertheless...

Thank you very much bayucca. So, common name is heckered Skipper and specific name should called it Pyrgus communis?
