cardinal

cardinalis cardinalis

Description:

Cardinal, if it is a cardinal, is reddish orange, and lacking black markings around its beak. Pretty sure it's not a summer tanager.

Habitat:

backyard feeder in rural setting

Notes:

This bird has been coming to our feeder for four years. he is easily identifiable because of his brilliant coral red coloring. He has a tuft but very rarely raises it and he has no black markings around his beak, like a male cardinal. Might be a cardinal with muted coloring....not sure. I don't think it's a tanager.

Now I see this one where you say he has been coming for years, meaning he is not molting. So I would just say he is lacking black pigment, which makes him a super cool find :)
