Bumblebee (Bombus impatiens)

Bombus impatiens

Description:

There are several species of bees in my home and school gardens and Bombus impatiens is very common. I found this one unmoving outside. I tried to revive it with diluted honey-water, but it was gone. So I took pictures with my macro lens of the tongue hanging out.

Habitat:

Organic native plant pollinator garden

Notes:

Bees have different length tongues depending on species. I wonder why this one died. It's been very hot and dry, so it could have been heat exhaustion.

We have loads of bees in our school garden too. They are mostly honey bees and bumble bees.
