Armillaria gallica
Found these growing in clusters around a tree stump. Slimy surface because it had been raining.
Definitely should be parasitic. Hymenium should be adnate... these look adnexed. You have only 4 species in the UK - I haven't checked them out but they should be on googy images. Just found out they are highly prized eating in poland, russia, germany etc. !!! but slightly poisonous if raw.
Yep these were growing around a tree stump - although not sure how recently the tree was cut down. There was another mushroom that I thought it looked like but cant remember now, will have to check when I go home later (useless bit on info for you). I also didnt see any photos in my field guide that shows the stipes flaking off like that.
I've never seen stipes do that... but clustering, growing on timber?, a ring on the stipe, pale gills, all fit to some armillaria species... although I think they feed on live trees or at least very recently deceased ones... ?
I think its pretty cool as well Mark, they sort of look like flowers. I thought it may be Honey fungus. Do you have an idea of what this could be?
