Lizard Egg

Description:

My mother accidentally uncovered a small clutch of lizard eggs while digging potatoes in her garden and called me over to show them to me. There are several species of lizards (anoles, fence lizards, and skinks) that appear in her background garden area, but we suspect these eggs belong to one of the species of five-lined skinks which are native and abundant here.

Habitat:

Under a few inches of well-amended and tended soil in a backyard flower and vegetable garden.

Notes:

Shell was bluish-white with light brown freckles.
