Common Raven Butterfly

Papilio castor

Description:

Large black butterfly with white edging to the wings. Under surface flashed white dots if I recall.

Habitat:

Suntaley Khola is a remote hilly and forested area by the River Murty. This butterfly was spotted on the road leading to the resort we stayed in. Two other species kept it company on some cow dung (Nitrogen source). It was difficult to shoot as taxis kept suddenly appearing and both the butterfly and me had to get out of the way.
