Original habitat here was mainly longleaf pine (Pinus palustris) with turkey oak (Quercus laevis) and slash pine (Pinus caribaea) “flatwoods,” now mainly replaced by slash pine plantations.

Hi there, since you know the ID, adding the scientific name will complete your spotting and add it to the database. A quick Google search will give you the scientific name, which is Cardinalis cardinalis. Thanks.
