Harbour Seal

Description:

Harbor seals are brown, tan, or gray, with distinctive V-shaped nostrils.Harbor seals stick to familiar resting spots or haulout sites, generally rocky areas where they look, or forage for food. The harbor seal is of least concern on the species conservation chart, though some subspecies are considered threatened. After sexual reproduction, Females bear a single pup, which they care for alone. Pups are able to swim and dive within hours of birth.

Habitat:

Harbor seals prefer to frequent familiar resting sites. They may spend several days at sea and travel up to 50 kilometers in search of feeding grounds, and will also swim some distance upstream into freshwater in large rivers in search for food and shelter.

Notes:

This particular seal was seen playing, and eating with two other seals of close resemblance.
