Field Sparrow

Description:

Field Sparrow Description: 1) small: 5-6 inches in length, 2) slender, 3) short, conical bill, 4) rounded head, 5) somewhat long tail, 6) distinct white eyering, 7) pink bill, and 8) pale grayish underparts with soft orange highlights. The head is pale gray with a bright rufous crown and a wide rufous line behind the eye. The whitish throat is bordered by soft orange-rufous lateral throat stripes. * Field sparrows are sometimes described as having a "blank: look to their eyes.

Habitat:

*Specific Habitat: I observed this field sparrow at Harvest Square Nature Preserve in Huntsville, Alabama. *General Habitat: Field sparrows are found in areas of tall grass and brush that are growing up into small trees and shrubs, particularly thorny shrubs such as roses and briars.
