Pycnonotus barbatus
This is a common brown bird in this part of Africa, about 20 cm in length, and light-coloured (light brown to whitish) below, including the vent.
Very common and abundant bird, occurring south of Sahara and north of Equator, in all habitats except very arid ones and dense forests. In Nigeria, I recorded it in all urban settings we visited; and thee photos here were taken in central part of Abuja.
Dark-capped (P. tricolor) and Common (P. barbatus) bulbuls are often lumped together, and sometimes difficult to differentiate - the easiest way is by the color of vent, yellow with Dark-capped and whitish for Common one. If my memory is correct, they were once counted as subspecies of the same species..
