The tōrea pango is endemic to Aotearoa with all-black birds increasing from north to south. This is a gorgeous, all-black bird with a bright orange bill and bright red eyes.


This pair were cruising around on the sand, closer to the sand dunes at Allans Beach.


These two were in close proximity to a female Sea Lion (Phocarctos hookeri) who was sleeping on the sand resembling a sand bag but she looked up to check us out (see spotting: ) More interesting reading:
