Parmotrema Lichen

Parmotrema hypotropum

Description:

This lichen was turning orange-red and white because it was dying. The orange-red color could be from norstictic acid in the medulla that is reacting with something as it dies.

This is the first confirmed spotting of this species on Project Noah.

Habitat:

Spotted on a stick in a marshy forest bordering a river.
