Pelophylax ridibundus
Marsh frog is normally considered as large and robust frog (up to 17 cm in length for females); but all observed specimens were medium sized (males ?, young specimens? ), ten to 12 cm in length. Typical frog with long hind legs and well defined and visible central and lateral lines on the back, generally green-colored frog species. However, there is large variation in coloring, from green to brown or grey; with dark blotches or spots. Ventral side on all specimens observed was white or pale in color sporting same black spots.
Marsh frog is native to Europe, and widespread within its range. It is water-dwelling, and can be seen around lakes, rivers, ponds or marshes. Here observed in many spots between leading to a final waterfall on river Krka, Krka NP (Croatia). In Krka NP, Krka river forms a series of waterfalls and lakes; it is surrounded by a magnificent dense broad-leaved forest, and its shallow coastal waters are rich in vegetation.
