I found this specimen in a fragment of Atlantic Forest, in a region of transition between the Cerrado and Atlantic Forest.

Ugh!! I'm searching as hard as I can, but the only thing I could seem to find that looks close was this little critter:

But I'm not sure that it's in your geographic distribution! Or if it's a close match--the family Xylophagidae is very small.

Wow!! So cool! It's some kind of fly for sure, as it has a pair of halteres instead of hind wings.
