Skeletonizing Leaf Beetle

Trirhabda geminata

Description:

This lazy looking beetle is anything but! It was about 5mm long and has black elytra, antenna, three spots on the thorax and two spots on the head. The rest of the beetle is a yellow-green.

Habitat:

African Daisy plant in Coast Sage Scrub habitat in my yard. The plant it was on was next to native San Diego Sunflowers (Encelia sp) which is one of its favorites! This species is found in the southwestern US states, down into Central America.
