Colorful grasshopper. 8 cm long(3 inches). One missing leg.
Subtropical forest.
@Cindy: They checked the wtb link and added some links. In my eyes all of them are Chromacris colorata.

Yes! They are! (gafanhoto-soldado, soldadinho ou brasileirinho) Maybe I got confused between one species or another (speciosa or psittacus). Here is the link for my blog http://www.lifeinlog.org and here is my related spotting: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/384... I'm sorry I have not posted before.
OK, Leonardo, give us your picture and link of your blog, please! Yours might be Chromacris speciosa or Chromacris psittacus. I think you call them Soldier Grasshopper...
Unbelievable! I have an almost identical version of this, but mine is green with yellow (I wrote a bit about them on my blog recently). Genial! Nature is perfect! Thank you very much for sharing this, Luis! ;)
Thanks, Cindy, correction is done...

Good job bayucca. You should log in to the link I provided and give them feedback.
Romaleidae, Romaleinae, Romaleini, Chromacris sp. and most probably Chromacris colorata.
