Ichneumon Black Slip Wasp

Pimpla instigator

Description:

Female, approximately 38mm, brown body, two antennae, six orange legs, transparent wings, ovipositor.

Habitat:

Generally in forests or dead leafs. This was taken in my garden.

Notes:

I think this might be the parasitic wasp which lays it’s eggs in the White Cabbage Butterfly. Although the photos were taken in 2012 they were spotted in the garden again this year.
