Red squirrel (σκίουρος)

Sciurus vulgaris

Description:

The red squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris) is a species of tree squirrel in the genus Sciurus common throughout Eurasia. The red squirrel is an arboreal, omnivorous rodent. Squirrels with black coat are the commonest in Greece., (subspecies S. v. niger.) but individuals with red or brown fur are also very common. The pictured red squirrel was spotted just outside our balcony, Tsagarada village, Pe;ion mountain, Greece, but he was proved too fast to be photographed decently!
