A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Cnemidophorus (Aspidoscelis) sexlineatus
This cutie just hatched out of the egg in the past few weeks. The babies have a black back with yellowish stripes just like the adults, but have a distinctive blue tail that the adults lack.
Sandy soil with oaks and a fern understory.
I’m pretty sure this is a 5-Lined Skink. The hatchlings and juveniles are known for their blue tail.
