Cyrtophora moluccensis
Species of Cyrtophora are in the orb-web spider family (Araneidae), but they don't build orb webs, but rather dome-shaped, tent-like, highly complex non-sticky webs which "are aligned horizontally, with a network of supporting threads above them. These spiders often live in colonies."
Observed in a web constructed partly in a banana tree, in a large semi-urban yard/garden next to a patch of disturbed remnant forest. This is in the equatorial tropics of northern New Guinea.
