Monobia quadridens
Black wasp with white ring around its abdomen, a white spot on its thorax, and white spots on its "shoulders". The male has a white spot on its face, the female does not. Both can sting but they are not aggressive and sting only if threatened.
They build their nests in abandoned holes made by Carpenter Bees, Mud Dobbers, etc.
The Four-tooth Mason Wasp is sometimes mistaken for the Bald-Faced Hornet. Beneficial insect to have in the garden as they use the leaf-rolling caterpillar to feed to their larvae.
