Buteo plagiatus
A stout hawk with relatively wide wings with dark wingtips and dark trailing edge. The tail is wedge shaped with black and white bars.
The area is in the Rio Grande Valley so there is plenty of vegetation.
It was so great to see so many species of butterflies, dragonflies, and birds.
