Rain Lily

Zephyranthes sp.

Description:

A simple six-petalled flower for my 555th spotting. Once the flower shrivels a three-lobed structure filled with flattened black seeds develops.

Habitat:

This one is a potted plant but many have seeded themselves in the grassy verge lining the road of housing estate. Come in three colours white ( slightly bigger in size), pink and yellow too.

Notes:

It really loves the rain. Caterpillar of Lily moth Polytela gloriosae love the leaves of this plant. Butterflies like the flowers.
