Brown Pelican

Pelecanus occidentalis

Description:

A large bird with an unmistakable long bill and unfeathered pouch. Fairly uniform dark brown plumage but with pale head and neck, yellow on the crown and a short tail. Over six feet of wingspan gives it strong flight from which it can plunge dive for prey.
