Agaricus xanthodermus

Description:

Cap 7mm-4cm diam 6mm-2.5cm height. Smooth off-white surface. Interior flesh whitish, some parts turning brown slowly over hours. When pileus is scratched it turns instantly a bright yellow. Odor of flesh: iodine. Gills: free, close to crowded. light gray-brown, darker towards the edges. edges smooth Stipe of largest specimen is 13cm x 1cm. Abrupt bulb at bottom. light tan below ring. vertical fibres getting darker towards base. Interior is white above ring and creamy below ring. interior is solid. Very bottom of bulb is bright yellow when cut fading to brown slowly.

Habitat:

14 or more fruiting bodies in bamboo leaf liter in bamboo stand. Rooting in soil but very loosely and shallow: the slightest disturbance would uproot mushroom.

Notes:

All my specimens had not opened from the partial veil and Campus was locked the next day when I went back to see more mature specimens.
