North Queensland Day Moth

Description:

Adults are black with iridescent bands of yellow / pink. underside is iridescent pale blue- green with black bands. They rest with their wings open and out flat.

Habitat:

seen in Cairns botanic Gardens, tropical, flying around the leaves

You may like to fill in the scientific name. It is Alcides metaurus

Your firsts potting is exquisite...a very pretty moth indeed.

Welcome to Project Noah, Laura. This is a beautiful first spotting. I've never seen one of these moths before, although I'm down in Brisbane so am probable too far south of it's range.
