Serpula himantioides
Large Pinus radiata logs have been used as landscaping features in a local nature reserve and are providing a substrate for many different fungi, mostly exotic species. This one is prevalent at the moment with plaques up to 200mm wide and often covering a couple of metres of the more shaded areas of the logs. Although it looks very much like a Steccherinum ochraceum it has convoluted folds instead of spines or teeth.
In a local nature reserve adjoining a large national park; both dominated by dry eucalyptus forest.
