Cottonmouth/Water Moccasin

Agkistrodon Piscivorus

Description:

Colorful as a juvenile but patterns and colors grow darker and less easily seen as the snake grows.

Habitat:

Near water in the Southern states of the USA.

Notes:

We saw this snake near a creek bed we frequent. It was only about 18 inches(46 cm) long, but still very venomous. We kept our distance.
