Black carpenter ant

Camponotus pennsylvanicus

Description:

Pretty sure this is a freshly mated queen who has shed her wings and was roaming my house at 10:30 PM looking for a place to settle in and start her colony. Needless to say, after swearing a lot and taking a few pictures for identification purposes she went outside.
