Boxelder Bug

Boisea trivittata

Description:

Boxelder Bug that fell into a bucket of soil in my garden. It was a bit chilly that day, and I suspect that it didn't have the strength to climb back out.

Habitat:

Garden landscaping, rural deciduous area, Clermont County

Notes:

Fun fact: Often confused with the potentially dangerous "kissing bug," boxelders get a bad rap. Though they're totally harmless, many people tend to squish first and ask questions later.
