Columbian black-tailed deer

Odocoileus hemionus columbianus

The magical moment when a doe appears with her fawn in tow. Air temperature was around 60 degrees despite the snow on the ground, which made things very wet and slippery for people and animals alike. Mama and baby were foraging for shoots.

Seen on a trail in Mount Rainier National Park at an elevation of approximately 5400'.

Thank you, Tukup! When did you go to Mt. Rainier? WA state is probably my favorite place in the US besides Hawaii.

Looks like the same one I saw when I was there, but neither of us were so high as to be in the snow. Brrrrr. Beautiful shots Mauna. Thanks.
