Intellagama lesueurii lesueurii
Found in Byron Bay, he was very relaxed around us & very beautiful so obviously a male in full colour regalia!
Many thanx Scott - just couldn't decide! Depends on the shots you view - have updated the post cheers :}
The Australian water dragon Intellagama lesueurii is the sole species in the genus. It however contains 2 subspecies, the eastern water dragon (I. l. lesueurii) and the Gippsland water dragon (I. l. howittii). Based on the descriptions I've read, I would say this is the eastern subspecies because it has dark bands behind its eyes while the Gippsland apparently doesn't.
