This is the smallest species of hummingbird we saw in that area of CR. These are only 6.5 cm and thus very wary of the other larger species of hummingbirds. She never stopped nearby the others as she would get attacked and driven away. But she was much faster and kept coming back and forth from a nearbu bush. The females miss the beautiful red throat of the males but have tiny spots in their throat instead. They are also more rufous in their flanks than the males.
Typical of mountain areas of Costa Rica and Panama, for example in coffee plantation areas. This one spotted in the area of Paraiso Quetzal.
