Carolina grasshopper

Description:

Insect moved similarly to how a leaf blowing in the wind tumbles along the tops of grass.

Habitat:

Found in central KY, USA.

Notes:

Insect was resting amongst some fallen tree leaves when I came upon it. After getting a little closer, it ran to the tree, at which point I was able to take a picture. I then scooped it up with a cut-in-half a water bottle and took a few more pictures. Just after letting it out of the water bottle, it flew away.
