Desert spoon

Dasylirion wheeleri

I saw several of these desert evergreen shrubs while hiking thru the Valley of Fires. The short trunk is densely covered with long, narrow and serrated leaves. The flower- stem was about 8 to 9 ft tall. Flowers in early summer.

Spotted at the Valley of Fires State Park in New Mexico.
