Lives in burrows underground,emerging to bask in the morning sun.It feeds mainly on plants, eating buds and young shoots.It also feeds on beetle larvae,butterflies and other insects.I retreats to its burrow in the afternoon closing the entrance with a plug of sand.Very curious this one.
