Crinum americanum
Swamp Lilies, mostly tropical species, grow in different areas of the world. The American swamp liliy grows in the southern areas of the country. http://greennature.com/article139.html This was a specimen that was found in the wild.
The name pretty much explains the habitat. They grow in humid wetlands and/or swampy areas. Their rather large size and showy thin petals also make them popular garden flowers.
