Malabar Spinach

Basella alba

Description:

Fast growing, soft stemmed vine that can reach 10m in length. The leaves are thick, semi-succulent and heart shaped. They have a mild flavor and sometimes the type of soil can affect it.

Habitat:

The plant grows best in tropical environments.

Notes:

We have this plant in our backyard and it is thriving beautifully. They grow preety quickly. The only downside is that its mild taste is not personally pleasing to me. They are good in a salad when mixed with lettuce and other things. Has a very earthy strpng flavor to it.
