Black-Necked Stork (Australian Jabiru)

Ephippiorhynchus asiaticus australis

Description:

Large wading bird, appx. 125-150cm tall. Blue-black head and neck with iridescent feathers with blue-black wings and white belly.

Habitat:

Fairly common throughout wetlands throughout Northern and North-Eastern Australia.

Notes:

Photo taken at Australia Zoo. Although commonly known as the Jabiru in Australia, this is not to be confused with the South American Jabiru mycteria.
