fleshy orange cap, with spines ("teeth") underneath, and a white stem.

Habitat:

on the ground under conifers, Telluride, Colorado

Notes:

one of the best edibles of summer - cook slowly for 10 minutes - has a nutty flavor and a good texture - no poisonous look-alikes

Interesting. We have a very few that grow in summer. They are not as good as the ones that grow all winter long, however
