Abalone

Haliotis pulcherrima

Description:

These rock-holding snails need to hide because a) sea otters will grab rocks and hammer them off to eat them and b) people love their gorgeous mother of pearl shells. So these guys were way out at low tide hiding and clinging in a harsh environment.
