Crane Fly with Mites

Description:

This poor tiny 1 cm Crane Fly had at least 6 mites attached to it's thorax and feeding on it's hemolymph. It is sad to see because it must be very debilitating, if not mortal and the insect has no way to remove them. Family Tipulidae.

Habitat:

Came to an ultraviolet light in the garden, San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.
