Also known in Hawaii as
awapuhi ula ula.
It's an ornamental that has become naturalized in the Hawaiian Islands.
Originally from the South Pacific, varies in color from red to pink.

Its not ginger, ginger blooms white flowers and
the flowers are fragrant.
