Gray Squirrel

Sciurus carolinensis

Description:

The most common squirrel in GA. Weighs up to 1 and a half pounds.

Habitat:

Usually associated with wooded habitats but are often found in urban areas, parks, and seem to prefer hardwood habitats.

Notes:

We have squirrels in our back yard and love to eat an old plastic patio chair to sharpen their teeth. I'd rather they eat the chair than other parts of the house, etc.
