Eastern Tailed Blue Butterfly

Cupido comyntas or Everes comyntas

Description:

These relatively common butterflies have a wingspan of about an inch. The males tend to have blue upper wings while the females tend to have paler blue wings, but other colors may occur. The chevron-shaped spots on the underside of the hindwing in addition to the "tail" helps to identify this butterfly.

Habitat:

I found these butterflies in a dry, grassy area near a large wetland.
