Entoloma melanophthalmum
Dark brown mushrooms with striated caps ( about 25 mm wide) and black depressed centres. The gills were spaced and a beautiful cream colour in stark contrast with the dark cap and dark stipe. The stipe had tinges of deep purple. The fruiting bodies grew in clumps.
Spotted in damp sandy soil amongst sodden leaf litter. Mixed natives in trees.
Not able to add any reference except that it is identified as such in the Field Guide to Tasmanian Fungi by G. Gates & D. Ratkowsky. Described as having a violaceous cap margin and grey-blue stipe.
family: Entolomataceae
