Wired slime mold

Stemonitis sp.

Description:

Spread over a large length of eucalyptus log were many tiny patches of white Stemonitis in various stages of development. The fully developed sporangia were about 10mm tall. When they are fully mature they eventually turn dark brown and collapse.

Habitat:

Local nature reserve.

Notes:

Yet to confirm species... a stemonitis which doesn't go through a pale yellow phase.
